How does book scanning work?

Share any Instagram or TikTok video link with book recommendations through the app. Our AI scans the video frame-by-frame, identifies visible book covers and spines, and extracts the titles and authors. You'll get a complete list with links to Amazon and Goodreads.

How long does scanning take?

Most scans complete in under 3 minutes. You'll receive a notification when your books are ready. The exact time depends on the video length and how many books are shown.

What platforms are supported?

We currently support Instagram (posts and reels) and TikTok videos. Just copy the link from the app and share it with MyReelReads.

Why didn't my scan find all the books?

Our AI can only detect books that are clearly visible in the video. Common reasons books might be missed:

• Book covers are blurry or too far away
• Books are shown very briefly
• Covers are partially hidden or at odd angles
• Books are only mentioned verbally without being shown

For best results, look for videos where creators hold books up to the camera clearly.

Can I delete books from my list?

Yes! Go to the Library tab, swipe left on any book, and tap delete to remove it from your list.

The cover image doesn't match my book. Can I fix it?

Hey, we just pulled a book title out of a moving TikTok video—give us some credit! But seriously, tap the reload button on the book card to try a different cover source. We get it right for most books, but cover images can vary between editions, regions, and publishers. We're actively working to improve cover accuracy.

How does series tracking work?

Ever start a series, then forget about it while waiting 9-24 months for the next release? Series tracking helps you remember incomplete series you've started. Track which series you're waiting on and when the next book is expected to release (if the date has been published). We don't automatically discover release dates—you'll add that information as you find it.

What happens if the same book appears in multiple videos?

Each scan shows all the books found in that video, even if you've seen them before. However, in your Library, each book only appears once—no matter how many videos mention it. We track how many times each book has been seen, so you can easily discover which books multiple creators are talking about. Sort by "Most Seen" to find the most popular recommendations.

My scan failed or is taking too long

Try these steps:

• Check your internet connection
• Make sure the video link is from Instagram or TikTok
• Verify the video is still available (not deleted by the creator)
• Try copying the link again

If the issue persists, contact support with the video link.

I can't find my books

Check the Scans tab to see the status of your scans. Once complete, books appear in your Library tab. You can search by title, author, or filter by date added.

Subscription and billing issues

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple App Store account. To cancel, modify, or view your subscription:

• iOS: Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → MyReelReads

You can also use the "Restore Purchases" button in the app if you've subscribed on another device.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app:

• Go to Profile → scroll to the bottom
• Tap "Delete Account"
• Confirm deletion

This will permanently delete all your scanned books, series tracking, and account data. This action cannot be undone.
